Israeli health officials say they’ve discovered a relationship between a “small number of heart inflammation” instances in predominantly young males who have received the Pfizer COVID vaccine and the Pfizer COVID vaccination.
Between December 2020 and May 2021, Israel has recorded 275 occurrences of the inflammation, also known as myocarditis. “There is a plausible association between taking the second dose (of Pfizer) vaccination and the appearance of myocarditis among men aged 16 to 30,” three expert panels determined after reviewing the data.
Pfizer, on the other side, stated that “no higher rate of the disorder… than would typically be expected in the general population” had been seen. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States likewise stated that they had not noticed any more instances than expected, but that health care providers should be aware of the reports.
