Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a pathological overstimulation of your coagulation system that can result in aberrant and life-threatening blood clotting, as well as thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) and bleeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Platelets are specialized cells that prevent blood from clotting.
